Well what a day!
Today started out with a 15 mile run early doors around Calais, this was to ensure I covered the full distance of the English Channel today. Despite always being known as fast for my size on the rugby pitch, not even I can run the 20 knots per hour speed that the ferry will be going!
Following all the signs to the car terminal on foot felt really odd, but I have to say a massive thank you to P&O Ferries and both the Calais and Dover Port Authorities for allowing me to run through such busy operational sites. Today I got a small insight into how the ports work and how the ships operate and I was massively impressed with how professional and efficient they were.
The ferry loading operation was suspended whilst I got the opportunity to run from the berth, up the ramp and onto the ferry at Calais, and again when arriving back in Dover running off the ferry to kiss the English ground! It was so awesome to be home and hard to believe that I’ve run over 200 miles to get there.
Now the focus turns to two very hard English legs, tomorrow a long run to Faversham awaits.
