06:30 and not even light yet. It is blowing a hooly outside and looks pretty cold too. Going to hit 22 miles today. I have run 3 * 9 miles this week and surprisingly, I never seem to ache from my runs anymore. Admittedly, I walk around like a giraffe in the office through stiffness a lot, but come the weekend, all is good. I have developed a sligh groin strain which is starting to feel like needles being shoved in your prostate after 16 miles, but other than that, all is well. 6 more weeks of circa 50 miles running per week and we are on the downward slope until Paris. Getting very real now. Had confirmation from the lovely people at Dover Port authority this week that they will help me be the first person to run through the port when I hit English soil. Fantastic news!!! How do I feel mentally? Excited in the main. Still firmly believe that my mind is stronger than my body which is the most important thing! Fundraising went past £6,000 today, which is a truly awesome amount of money. Makes 06:30 seem like a breeze!
Full medical completed and the BIG engine which I keep telling myself I have, actually exists! Great news and a big relief as this milestone was so important as I am now in the final 10 weeks of preparation. The relief helped me power round a 20 mile run in the snow this morning and achieve my first ever week of running >45 miles whilst still managing 8km in the pool on my rest days.
